Distributing Your TBK Tracker Application
When you're ready to distribute your application, select Distribute Application from the TBKTrack menu. This will ask you a few questions and set the system books to those required for runtime.
To return to TBK Tracker authoring after preparing a book for distribution, access the extended properties of the "tbkTrackerLessonSetup" button on the empty page and set the tbkTrackerAuthorMode property to true.
The following files must be distributed with the ToolBook runtime and placed in the same directory as the ToolBook runtime:
tbkTracker4UserHelp.chm
tbkUserDataBlank.dat
All of these files reside in the sysToolBookDirectory.
It is very important that your installation not overwrite an existing tbksettg4.ini file. This is because other vendors and developers could have their information in that file. Instead you should use your installation program to make the appropriate entries into the tbksettg4.ini file. You may want to look at the InstallShield Professional installation that comes with TBK Tracker for an example.
You also need to include your front end book and your lesson books. These books can be installed anywhere, but you must use the TBK Tracker Administrator to write their path information to the database.
You must reset your lesson books prior to delivery for the "Pages Visited" completion method to work correctly. To do this, either use the "Reset book and save" option (rather than the "Quick save" option), or send ASYM_Reset to the book before saving. This ensures that the ASYM_BeenHere property of each page is reset.
If your application uses the JET provider option, note that the JET provider is not installed by default with MDAC 2.6 or later.
You are free to distribute TBK Tracker Administrator and TBK Tracker Reporter to your users. These programs have their own installation routines which you are welcome to use and/or customize.
